Hobbit, Dwarf or Elf? By Sirritus

Since I can’t sleep tonight I thought I would help lianachan with what he started. If Aule can keep up with all of the ringnut info., athene maintain the Good Posts thread and Shakra remember everyone’s birthday, then I think I can manage to update this once in a while if anyone wants to keep it going.
Sirritus did a great job describing the various categories but as you can see, we ringnuts are too creative to play by the rules.  Also, if you think someone should be upgraded to a higher category please nominate them. I see several that I think should be moved up on the scale but I’ll try to stay neutral and let you guys decide. If you’re uncomfortable placing yourself I’m sure others will give you their honest opinion. Have fun!

I guess Im a Hobbit.

I would say somewhere between an elf and a Maia (leaning towards the Maia), with the potential of becoming a Vala if you stick around long enough. The quality is there but the length of service isn't.

Legolas of Mirkwood is a newer member (I believe Lego started posting around December or so, when I started reading), but has certainly helped make this board a place I want to be. May I suggest half-elven?
I liked my wizardly role in the Fellowship of Jeeper, but I have assuredly not earned a place among the Maiar. (Call it a secret career ambition. Oh, shoot, now it's not a secret. I think Aragorn-Elissar should be made a full elf on the ringnut species list. Also, I want to second ringnut_at_heart's being an elf, because they were worried they'd made a bad choice. Also, the ladygreenleaf sounds like an elf to me. You'll see at the bottom of the thread that ringnut_at_heart thinks so too. And just one more thing, could I be a noblewoman instead of nobleman on your list? Thanks!

I think Bombadil is a good category for Gimlet! I am seriously confused by the multiple Gimlets too, though. I haven't seen enough to judge Trin's other nom's though. It's getting harder to judge because I think a lot of people are in categories that don't suit them according to the original definitions but do suit them in terms of others users in that category. But it's not a big deal. I think I originally misjudged my category anyway.

Well...if you're confused between the two Gimlets, are you sure about the classification? I had thought Bombadil would be good, too, but I'm not even sure myself. Is there anyone who can say they can distinctly tell the difference between Gimlet#1 and Gimlet#2? Perhaps the other Gimlet could help!

Gaby, I've only just realised that I'm on your list. I'm chuffed (that's a good thing) I don't know where I'd fit exactly but it if helps: I'm nature loving, wise when the need arises, creative, read a lot, love music, food, drink, fun, writing/literature, sport, animals (the 'downunder' varities, of rugby and rugby league). I'm also known for having two opinions on almost anything and being the devil's advocate sometimes. After reading the characteristics of the various categories more closely and thinking about it, even though I'm honored by Ali's and whoever else's nom, I'd like to demote myself for the following reason:
Elf: Knowledgable of how things go on, and a comfortable poster resistant to trolls. Experienced, and quite Tolkien-wise, concise and polite.
I don't fit the "Tolkien-wise" part of that definition, which IMO on this board, should be the most important part. I don't participate in a lot of the Tolkien related threads unless they pertain to the movie because I haven't read any of the books in the series completely through yet. Although I've seen TTT 3 times, and FOTR numerous times, any knowledge I have comes from what little I have read so far, the movies and what I have gleaned online from going to places like theOnering.net and reading posts on here to find answers to questions I've had.
That being said, I think this fits me better at this time:
--King/Queen of men: Possesses the qualities of men, but is bold and pro-active. Forethinking, willing to learn, and often leading the the battle of the lesser mortals against Trollish invaders, boldly holding the line to eaither eject a troll by numbers, or to await the aid of a Maiar or Valar.
When I read at least the trilogy in it's entirety, I'll let the board know, and someone can nominate me to be promoted again, if they like. For now, I'm happy with that because it reflects more truthfully, where I am at (I think). Besides, being in a category with Aragorn (even though he's Numenorean, and I'm not sure if I'd qualify quite that high ~someone else can determine that) ain't too shabby.

Hey, I thought I was the only one here who hasn't read the entire trilogy. (I got farther this week, though! Chapter 11 of FOTR, whoo hoo!) Anyway, I think it's awesome that you would demote yourself just like that. It shows a great strenghth of character. Does the elf have to be Tolkien-wise, or can it just be LOTR Movie-wise? There is a difference. I don't know, movie-wise could be king/queen of men. I think I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer your question.
